First Village Women’s BBQ a huge success
It was a packed house at the Tenison Woods Centre in St Agnes’ Village with more than 70 attending the inaugural Village Women’s BBQ on Wednesday 29 October.
Jody Munro, Village Manager, said the Women’s BBQ was initiated at the request of women in St Agnes’ and Lourdes Villages after seeing the success of the Men’s BBQ which happens every couple of months.
“The men of the Villages have been enjoying their regular BBQ get togethers so much that the ladies were keen to spend time together in a similar way,” said Jody.
“I was delighted by the strong turnout at our first Ladies BBQ. There was a real buzz in the air as everyone enjoyed a chat over a beverage and a meal.”
“Everyone who attends the BBQs makes a donation to help cover costs and any extra funds raised are donated to charity.”
“We raised over $288 this time, which includes a special donation of $120 from the Lourdes Village Book Club, that will go to Liberty Domestic and Family Violence Services. So that’s wonderful,” concluded Jody.
Many thanks to Darren Flegg and Greg Black who assisted with cooking the BBQ.
