Home Care/NDIS COVID Updates

Stay connected with the latest updates.

To recipients of our Home Care Services (and their families),

UPDATE HC#2: THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONTINUED SUPPORT

As mentioned in my previous letter, the latest transmission of COVID-19 throughout our community has impacted much of what we do and has meant we had to change the way we delivered our Home Care services.

Our staffing levels and availability of workers were especially affected. As a result, services had to be reorganised with some clients experiencing changes to times, dates and workers, and unfortunately in some circumstances, services were reduced or cancelled. These decisions were not taken lightly and made with the safety and wellbeing of staff and clients in mind.

We greatly appreciate your patience and willingness to work with us to ensure the delivery of our services in the best way we can during what has become a challenging period. I have also thanked our workers who have shown a preparedness to go the extra mile for their clients.

Even if we begin to return to some form of normality, I expect that COVID-19 will continue to provide ongoing challenges to our service delivery. In planning for the future, we will take on board client feedback that we have received over past few weeks and combine this with a variety of strategies to ensure minimal disruption to our services for the future.

These strategies will include addressing issues such as ongoing recruitment approaches and sourcing, and sustainable methods of testing and infection prevention and control.

If you have any questions or concerned please do not hesitate to contact our reception at Bourne House on 6581 6800.

Thank you for your understanding and resilience during this time.

Kind Regards

To recipients of our NDIS Services,

KPSY UPDATE NDIS #1: WORKING TOGETHER TO REDUCE OUR COVID RISK

Many businesses and services are currently facing challenges to maintaining services due to COVID exposures and staff having to isolate due to close contact with positive cases.

St Agnes Care & Lifestyle’s goal is to continue providing you with the NDIS services you usually receive, as safely as possible for you and our staff.

To minimise the risk of transmission of COVID, all our NDIS workers will wear personal protective equipment (PPE) during their visits with you. For some visits this may be a mask and/or eyewear and/or gloves; for other visits, it may be full PPE, which may also include a face shield and a gown or apron. Staff at our Day Centre will also wear masks at all times, and gloves/eyewear as appropriate for your care.

We are constantly and vigilantly screening our staff for COVID risk and we are monitoring and amending the rostering of staff to maintain the continuity of your service.

You play an equally important role in helping manage our COVID risks. If you have any situation where you may been exposed to COVID, are in self-isolation, or have contracted COVID, it is important that you let us know so we can put plans in place for how we can continue to provide services to you in a safe way.

In these COVID times, there may be situations when:

  • other plans need to be put in place for the delivery of your service – such as a different Support Care worker than the person you are used to providing your service – if your regular Support Worker cannot attend for any reason, please be patient with them – you are as new to them as they are to you.
  • we may need to cancel your service because there is no other safe viable option available – if that is the case, we will phone you to let you know – we will only take this step if it is absolutely necessary.

Please note, we acknowledge the importance of essential services such as personal care and medication prompting and are making them a high priority.

COVID is not going away so we need to build our arsenal for dealing with it.  Our strongest defence against it is the good relationship we build with each other; sharing timely information with each other that enables rapid response to the risks it presents.

If you have any questions or concerned please do not hesitate to contact the Kempsey Day Centre on 6562 3918.

Thank you for your support during this challenging time.

Kind Regards
