Are you or a family member starting to think about home care but unsure where to begin?

You’re not alone. For many seniors and their families, navigating the aged care system can feel overwhelming and confusing. At St Agnes’ Catholic Parish, we’ve supported local seniors in the Port Macquarie and Hastings region for over 40 years, helping them stay safe and independent at home.

Why consider home care?

Home care lets you or your loved one receive support while living comfortably in familiar surroundings. Whether it’s help with personal care, household tasks, meals, or social support, home care is designed to enhance your quality of life while maintaining your independence.

Steps to getting started

1. Identify your needs

Start by identifying the areas where you or your loved one might need assistance, whether it’s cooking, cleaning, personal care, medication support, or social visits.

2. Contact My Aged Care

This is the Australian Government’s gateway to aged care services. You or a family member can call 1800 200 422 to start an assessment.

3. Home Care Package assessment

If eligible, you will be assessed to determine the level of care needed (level 1 to 4).

4. Choosing a provider

This is where it gets tricky. Many seniors feel unsure who to trust. St Agnes’ Catholic Parish has been providing trusted, local care for over 40 years. We offer personalised care tailored to your needs, with clear guidance and no hidden fees.

5. Start receiving care

Once your package is approved and you’ve chosen your provider, your care plan begins.
