Matt is ‘living the dream’ as a member of the Care Staff at Emmaus

Matthew DixonMatthew Dixon began his career with Emmaus as a work placement student with ETC (Enterprise & Training Company) and says immediately felt he was in the right place. When he finished his course, he was keen to stay and commenced fulltime work at Emmaus in November 2021.

Since then, Matt has become well known around Emmaus for his energetic catchphrase, ‘I’m living the dream’, which makes everyone smile.

Matt continues be involved in running his family’s farm as he enjoys being busy and working hard. A volunteer with the Rural Fire Service for 13 years, Matt’s desire to give back to the community, makes him a great fit for his care work at Emmaus. The residents, visitors, and staff are all very fond of him.

Matt recently received some lovely feedback from one of the residents, who having suffered a stroke, finds it challenging using a pen. In a handwritten note, the resident shared what Matt’s presence in her life means to her, describing him as ‘one of her many angels’.

Matt has a positive outlook and is grateful for all the support he receives from everyone across the entire site.

‘I find every shift I work to be a very rewarding experience’, says Matt.

Thank you for your ongoing efforts, Matt. We wish you a long career at Emmaus and continued success in life.
