Residents sign Commemorative Book for Queen Elizabeth II thanks to visit from Leslie Williams MP

Leslie Williams, our local MP visited both Emmaus and St Agnes’ Site last week to give residents the opportunity to sign a Commemorative Book for the Royal Family to mark the passing of Queen Elizabeth II.

At Emmaus last Thursday 15 September, Leslie’s surprise visit was welcomed with a High Tea and decorated café in memory of the late Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Residents and staff dressed up in red, white and blue and even one or two wore fancy dress. As an extra surprise ‘Sir Elton John’ (aka Alan Pretty, Residential Service Manager) accompanied Leslie. The photo gallery below captures some of the fun of the day.

The residents and staff appreciated Leslie’s thoughtful gesture in bring the Commemorative book to Emmaus for everyone to sign.

As one staff member wrote of the experience :

The Queen’s Memorial morning tea was outstanding – such a successful event!!!! Not only did the café venue look sensational; the decorations, slide show, pictures, flowers, high tea cakes, and sandwiches were superb. The effort staff put in to ensure the residents were ready and able to take part in this special early morning event was marvellous!

It was very touching to observe the extra mile staff went to arrange decorations for residents in different houses to commemorate the event and ensure that all residents were included. Staff dressing up and wearing the elected colours was a very nice way to acknowledge the history of Australia’s respect for England and the Royal Family”.

A truly wonderful experience of all living our values.
