Village Residents now have access to new personal emergency response system

After overcoming several challenges during installation, a new personal emergency response system (PERS) is now operational for residents in our St Agnes’ and Lourdes Independent Living Villages.

The new ‘INS Lifeguard’ PERS provides each resident with an in-home medical alarm system called ‘SmartHome’, a base unit that features easy to use touch screens. It also supports the provision of mobile call buttons that can be worn on the wrist or around the neck, and call buttons in the bathrooms and toilets of all villas. Residents will also shortly receive an additional SmartTracker device which has a falls detection and GPS function.

Working closely with the Village Management Office, the Residents Committee and Village residents, the project team was able to work through supply chain holdups, signal reception problems, and contractor availability issues to deliver the new INS Lifeguard system which will enable residents to access assistance when they need it most.

“A huge thank you to everyone involved for their patience and persistence during the changeover to the new system,” said Stojan Nejkov from the ICT Project Management Office.

“Moving to a new system is never easy and I want to commend everyone, especially the Resident Committee for their support, and those who attended the training sessions to learn how to use their PERS,” he added.
