Residents enjoy visit from St Columba students
Intergenerational visits such as the one by a group of Year 9 students from St Columba Anglican School on Thursday 12 June are always popular with the residents of Maryknoll, Mount Carmel and St Agnes’ house.
The students, accompanied on their first visit by St Columba staff members, Sarah Wallace and Marissa Orley, will be making regular visits to engage with residents through games and other activities during the next couple of terms.
“The purpose of the first visit was for the residents and students to meet and get to know each other,” said Kristy Morgan, Residential Service Manager for St Agnes’ House.
Tim Kallmier, Head of Human Society & Environment and Professional Learning at St Columba Anglican School said the students enjoyed their visit to St Agnes’ House.
“The students found this a great experience and are looking forward to their next visit,” said Tim.
The students also learned about the importance of screening processes such as COVID testing in minimising risks to the health of older people residing in residential aged care.
