St Agnes’ Primary School staff experience pastoral care at Emmaus

The Pastoral and Spiritual Care team was delighted to host a group of staff from St Agnes’ Primary School, who were participating in a staff faith formation day, at Emmaus on Tuesday morning 10 June.

During their visit, the St Agnes’ Primary staff spent time with the Pastoral and Spiritual Care team engaging with residents, participating in activities and observing the compassionate care provided at both Emmaus Home and Emmaus Village.

Donna Sprague, Assistant Principal Mission at St Agnes’ Primary School said staff returned to school in awe of the wonderful facilities offered at Emmaus and the excellent care shown by staff.

“Our staff said they observed a faith-based, welcoming, peaceful environment where residents were encouraged to age gracefully. They identified it as a friendly, inclusive village providing spaces for strong connections of sharing of stories,” said Donna.

“Staff were impressed by the personalised aspect of care with each resident having their own identity – known by their name and story – giving them a sense of purpose,” she added.

“Whilst our goal was to provide service in the community, the insights our staff gained in forming their own faith and their first-hand experience of the wonderful work happening in our Parish far exceeded any expectations,” concluded Donna.

“The Pastoral and Spiritual Care team was pleased to facilitate this visit and looks forward to developing more opportunities to partner with St Agnes’ Primary School in the future,” says Justine Worner, from the Pastoral and Spiritual Care Team.
